Stubhub has become a popular place for fans of music and sports to go and find tickets to their favorite events. The site allows people to gamble on whether or not they can sell their tickets at prices higher than the face value of the ticket.

There are many ticket sites that have popped up across the Internet, and most are offering tickets to games and concerts at well above face value. State laws vary in regards to selling tickets above the price intended by event promoters. On the Internet, fans in most states can pay the bloated price for top seats.

Stubhub has made a business out of putting sellers together with buyers. The sellers are gambling on the idea that tickets will be hard to come by, therefore allowing the seller to jack up the prices.

The buyers are also gamblers in this game. The buyer must wait out the process sometimes until the last minute to see how far down the seller will drop the tickets in an effort to get rid of them. It is a constant gamble, and one that takes place nearly every day across the US.

Stubhub has even started showing up at the event on game day. Stubhub representatives are positioned outside the stadiums where ticket scalpers would normally be standing. In many cases, the fan cannot buy tickets directly from the Stubhub stand.

Instead, the fan must call a toll-free number, order and pay for their tickets, and then pick the tickets up at the booth outside the stadium. In some stadiums, it is illegal for people to scalp tickets to the event, while Stubhub is openly promoting the scalping process.

As sports and entertainment grow, and the need for premiere seats continues to escalate, Stubhub and other ticket sites will experience a boom in business, all the while, doing something that the everyday person may be forbidden from doing under their state laws.
