In the first few weeks of the NFL season, our NFL power rankings had some teams that not many experts believed would be any good. Now, after five weeks, the teams that were expected to be strong have again made their way to the top.

The Baltimore Ravens are the top team in our rankings this week. The Ravens took care of a solid Denver Broncos squad, and at 4-1, Baltimore is now at the top of the AFC North. The Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to battle in the division until years end.

In the AFC East, the Jets were picked as the favorites, and after an opening game loss to the Ravens, New York has responded with four straight victories. That has moved the Jets up ahead of the Steelers to number two this week. Pittsburgh drops to number three after having a bye this past weekend.

The Atlanta Falcons are the first NFC team this week and they come in at number four. The Falcons only loss of the season came in the opener against the Steelers on the road. Tampa, another team from the NFC South whose only loss is to Pittsburgh, rounds out the top five.

Chicago breaks back into the top ten at number six after rebounding from a devastating loss to the Giants. New York, despite having two losses, is at seven this week after routing the Houston Texans for their second straight win. Kansas City took their first loss of the year and is number eight.

New England and New Orleans are the final two teams in this week's top ten. The Patriots had a bye this past week and when they return, they will be without wide receiver Randy Moss, who has been traded to Minnesota. The Saints let another team stick around, and they paid the price when they were defeated by Arizona.
