Pennsylvania Proposes Adding Table Games

Pennsylvania got a taste of the easy money generated from gambling when it legalized slot casinos in the state in 2004. In the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, taxes generated by the legalized slot casinos are up 24.7% for a grand total of $873,899,361 to date.

In an effort to increase the gambling revenue, State Rep. Bill DeWeese officially introduced a proposal on Tuesday to add table games to Pennsylvania's casinos and if approved it is sweet deal for the state. Under the measure, casino operators would pay a $10 million fee up-front to inaugurate games such as blackjack, poker and craps at their currently slots-only facilities. There would be a $500,000 annual renewal fee as well as daily tax of 18 percent and a local-share assessment of 2 percent of its daily gross table-game revenue. This is in addition to the money being paid to the state from the slot machines.

Positive Progressive Systems

My friend Rich and I were playing craps the other day at the casino. We both bought in for the same amount but at the end of our playing session, I had won much more money than he did. We both were playing at the same table, betting on the same shooters yet our results were very different. This led to a discussion about how we were betting. I was using a positive progression on the hot shooters while Rich was flat betting the same amount and never raising his bets. He told me that he did not believe that progression systems worked in the long run so he always kept his bets the same.

Many players feel this way and it is true that no betting system can change the house edge, however a positive betting progression can take advantage of a winning streak and increase your winnings during the course of a playing session. Using a positive progression system is when you increase your bets as you are winning. Here is a look at positive progression systems.

Leave the Credit Cards Home

I was at the casino this morning and when I was getting ready to leave I went to the casino cage to cash in my chips. They only had one window open and there were three people in line ahead of me. I waited in the line for 25 minutes before it was my turn. This was because two of the three people in front of me were taking a cash advance on their credit card.

I was aggravated that I had to wait in line while these lengthy transactions were taking place but at the same time I almost felt a little sorry for the people who were financing their gambling with their credit card.

One of the reasons that the country is in such bad financial shape is because people have over extended themselves by charging things that they cannot afford. Credit card debt is rampant and it is the major reason why many people are having financial difficulties.

The sad truth is that for the most part it could be avoided if people would curb their spending and avoid using credit cards for unnecessary purchases. Taking a cash advance on your credit card to gamble in the casino is a perfect example of an unnecessary purchase and it may cost them more than they realize. If you do not have the discipline to play within your budget, you might want to leave your credit cards home when you visit the casino.

An 18 Month Losing Streak

I received an e-mail from a reader who wrote:

I have done what I thought was virtually impossible: I have had 18 losing months in a row, playing baccarat, American Roulette, and some blackjack. In this time, I have NEVER put together one decent run of luck. Is it possible that the casino could be rigged? Magnets in the roulette wheels? Card shufflers being controlled by an eye in the sky? I have been telling myself this is not possible. How long can someone keep losing?

I wrote back and told him that I did not think the casino was cheating unless everyone in the casino was losing. If that was the case then the casino would probably be under investigation. As to how long someone could keep losing, the answer is, "as long as they continue to gamble."

I suggested that he either lower the size of his bets or take a break from gambling for awhile. Sometimes taking some time off will change your luck. Although 18 months is a long time for a losing streak, it is not impossible. What was your longest losing streak?

Community Slot Play

I remember years ago when the Internet was in its infancy. As people began logging on and spending more time "surfing the web," there were warnings that we could become a society of recluses locked away from human contact and social contact. Of course that never happened. In fact, over the years as technology advanced, we became a global society interacting with others via Internet sites, instant messaging, blogs and other social media sites.

Modern technology has allowed some of us to meet and make new friends with those people that we share a common interest with. We may have never met these people without the technological advancements that have changed our social interactions with others. This technology is not limited to just the internet. It is creeping into other areas of our lives.

In the casino, most of the social interaction among the players came by playing the casino table games. For most of us, playing a slot machine was a solitary endeavor. This is now changing as the slot makers are using new technology to design slot games that will allow the players to win a communal jackpot. These community slot machines will let slot players enjoy more of a social atmosphere when they play their favorite games.

Hawaii Gamblers Have Taxing Problem

Hawaii does not have any casinos but that is not stopping the state from collecting revenue from gambling activities. A change in the tax code could net hundreds of thousands of dollars for the state from the residents who gamble in other states.

Under a new law, gamblers who win a jackpot will be required to pay taxes on their winnings, but they will not be able to deduct their losses. If a video poker player loses $3,000 playing video poker and then hits a $4,000 royal flush, they will have to pay taxes on the $4,000. Under the old tax law, the player would have been able to deduct the $3,000 loss and only pay taxes on the $1,000 net win.

Hawaiian lawmakers pushed for the change to help ease the state's multi-billion dollar deficit. Governor Lingle has until July 15th to veto the new tax code or it will become law. Many gamblers in the state feel that the new law in unfair and unjust. Over the course of a year most gamblers will lose money and it is unfair that they are taxed on the few times when they get lucky.

Casino Companies Favor Online Gambling

Many years ago when online casinos started appearing on the Internet, the owners of the brick and mortar casinos spoke out vocally against them. They were in favor of legislation to ban the online casinos because they did not want anything cutting into their profits. With the casino industry suffering from declining revenues during the current economic slowdown, some of the casino corporations are eyeing online gambling as a way increase their sagging profits.

Harrah's Entertainment and MGM Mirage, the two largest gaming companies now support legalizing online gambling. Harrah's has been the most vocal supporter of Internet gambling in recent months, and they also stand to benefit the most from legalization. Last month, Harrah's launched a subsidiary in Montreal, Canada to capitalize on the spread of Internet gambling in countries where online gambling is legal.

Both Harrah's and MGM feel that more people would gamble online if it was regulated and run by companies that know and trust.

Colorado Casinos Raising the Limits

When casinos opened in Colorado in 1991, the only games offered were slot machines, blackjack and poker. Gamblers were limited to making a maximum bet of five dollars on the blackjack and poker games. Under State regulation, casinos had to close between 2:00am and 8:00am.

Last November, voters approved Amendment 50 which raises the maximum bet from $5 to $100 and allows the casinos to offer craps and roulette. It also extends operating hours to 24 hours a day.

The higher limits and new games will go into effect at exactly 12 a.m. on Thursday, July 2nd and the casinos are looking forward to a very busy holiday weekend to celebrate their new independence from the old regulations.

New Owner for AC Tropicana

More than a year after the New Jersey gaming regulators took control of the Tropicana, the troubled casino will finally get new owners. Last week Judge Judith Wizmur of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Camden, New Jersey, approved the sale of Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City, to a group of lenders that includes billionaire Carl Icahn.

Icahn previously owned the Sands in Atlantic City which he sold to Pinnacle gaming in 2006. Pinnacle imploded the Sands to make way for a new casino that they had planned to build. Unfortunately, the current economic conditions forced them to put their plans on hold and now that site sits empty.

Icahn has a way of turning around distressed properties and many analysts are optimistic that he can work his magic with Tropicana in Atlantic City

No Mention Of Online Gambling In Christine O'Donnell Debate

Any online gamblers who wanted to get a feel for where Delaware Senate candidates stood on the issue came away disappointed from the Christine O'Donnell debate with Chris Coons. The two candidates squared off on several issues, none of which involved online gambling.

This November, voters will go to the polls in the US for mid-term elections, and online gamblers will make up a large percentage of those voters. After years of struggling through having to use offshore Internet gaming sites, these voters are looking for someone to come along that will champion their cause of creating a regulated Internet gambling system in the US.

For the past several years, Representative Barney Frank has been the voice of the online gamblers in Congress. Rep. Frank opposed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act when it was created back in 2006, and for several years Frank has tried to have the law overturned.

Unfortunately for Frank and other Democratic leaders, they have not moved quick enough for online poker players. The players are getting restless after another year of no movement towards online gambling regulations, and it is the current lawmakers up for re-election that may pay the price for that frustration.

"We need someone who is going to take this bull by the horns and make a difference for us," said Mario Ballea. "For years we have watched nothing get done, and personally, I've had enough. I want a lawmaker in Washington that will fight harder than the current lawmakers are fighting to regulate online poker."

Ballea is not alone, millions of online poker players are becoming increasingly impatient with the governments attempt to block them from depositing money in their favorite sites. Whether that anger shows up in this election will not be known until the polls close.

One thing is certain. The online gamblers are looking for a new leader, so they sift through the candidates. On Wednesday, it was O'Donnell and Coons in Delaware, on another day it will be different politicians in other states. Regardless of the debate, online gamblers are looking for more than they received Wednesday night, and that was neither candidate addressing their biggest issue.

Atlantic City Casinos Watch Gambling Revenue Slip Again

Play Now at Rushmore Casino!

Resorts Atlantic City, the oldest casino in New Jersey, is being sold and transformed with the theme of the 1920'2 in mind. What the casino and the rest of the AC casino industry needs, however, is a return to the seventies and eighties, when AC casinos ruled the gaming world.

September gambling revenue figures were released on Tuesday and it was another disappointing month for the casinos. Revenue dropped 11.6% from the same period in 2009, and that is not good considering the 2009 numbers were down as well.

The eleven casinos in Atlantic City all saw revenue decreases in September. The casinos have struggled for the better part of the past two years, and there is nothing to indicate that a turnaround will come anytime soon. The latest revenue figures have officials from the AC casinos again shaking their heads.

Table game revenue at the New Jersey casinos dropped 15.6%. That could be a direct reflection of the table games that are now being offered at Pennsylvania casinos. In July, Pennsylvania casinos started offering table games, and they have been taking customers out of AC casinos in the months since.

Slot revenue also declined in double digits. The 9.9% revenue decrease was not as bad as in some previous months, but it clearly shows that competition and the economy have severely damaged the AC gaming industry. There are some analysts that are now predicting that AC casinos will never see the revenue figures that they once enjoyed on a regular basis.

The overall revenue of $296.3 million kept New Jersey as the second largest gaming destination in the US, but the warning signs all point to Pennsylvania overtaking them in the future. In September of 2009, revenue at the casinos was $335.4 million.

Competition is not only coming from Pennsylvania. Maryland, New York, and Delaware have also expanded their casino options. Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire may not be far behind, with lawmakers considering casino proposals.

NFL Power Rankings: Ravens, Jets Top The List This Week

Play Now at Rushmore Casino!

In the first few weeks of the NFL season, our NFL power rankings had some teams that not many experts believed would be any good. Now, after five weeks, the teams that were expected to be strong have again made their way to the top.

The Baltimore Ravens are the top team in our rankings this week. The Ravens took care of a solid Denver Broncos squad, and at 4-1, Baltimore is now at the top of the AFC North. The Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to battle in the division until years end.

In the AFC East, the Jets were picked as the favorites, and after an opening game loss to the Ravens, New York has responded with four straight victories. That has moved the Jets up ahead of the Steelers to number two this week. Pittsburgh drops to number three after having a bye this past weekend.

The Atlanta Falcons are the first NFC team this week and they come in at number four. The Falcons only loss of the season came in the opener against the Steelers on the road. Tampa, another team from the NFC South whose only loss is to Pittsburgh, rounds out the top five.

Chicago breaks back into the top ten at number six after rebounding from a devastating loss to the Giants. New York, despite having two losses, is at seven this week after routing the Houston Texans for their second straight win. Kansas City took their first loss of the year and is number eight.

New England and New Orleans are the final two teams in this week's top ten. The Patriots had a bye this past week and when they return, they will be without wide receiver Randy Moss, who has been traded to Minnesota. The Saints let another team stick around, and they paid the price when they were defeated by Arizona.

Ohio Courts Rule Differently On Games Of Skill Payout Cap

USA Players Accepted at Rome Casino!

The debate over skill-based video gaming is at its hottest in Alabama, but other states are also having trouble interpreting the law. The Ohio state Supreme Court was the latest to rule on a video gaming issue on Tuesday.

The issue involved payouts on skill-based video game machines. The operators of several arcades in Ohio contended that the $10 limit on payouts for these games is unconstitutional. The state, however, asserts that the limit is within the guidelines of the constitution.

The Supreme Court overturned a Court of Appeals ruling that declared the law unconstitutional. The Franklin County Common Pleas Court originally ruled that the law was constitutional before having their ruling overturned by the appeals court.

In Ohio, the voters of the state approved four casinos last November. It was the first successful attempt to bring casino gambling to Ohio after several failed attempts over the past decade. The casinos will be located in Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, and Toledo.

The law in question will not have to do with the casinos, as it focuses on the arcades that are offering video gambling. The law was created in October 2007 and was intended to stop these arcades from becoming full blown casinos by awarding high payouts on the machines. many people do not even believe that the machines are legal in Ohio.

Alabama lawmakers are tussling with the same problem regarding electronic bingo machines. The tension in Alabama has hit an all-time high this year with the governor creating a Task Force on Illegal Gambling to raid gaming establishments in the state. Lawmakers have attempted to allow Alabama residents the right to vote on the issue, but the proposal ended up in federal indictments due to corruption.

VA Lottery And Washington Redskins Exemplify Gambling And NFL Mix

The Washington Redskins have one of the youngest owners in the league and perhaps that is why the team has thrown caution to the wind and is helping promote gambling in Virginia. The Virginia Lottery and the Redskins have partnered once again to offer more gambling choices for Va. residents.

Gambling is supposed to be a taboo subject for the NFL fraternity. Ask any NFL executive about gambling on their sport, and they are likely to give a five minute dissertation of how the league looks down upon gambling on NFL games.

The owners, however, started having a different take on the issue a couple of years ago. Owners changed their rules to allow themselves the opportunity to partner with state lotteries around the country and offer scratch off gambling lottery tickets with team logos on them.

The Redskins Legacy tickets that have been unveiled for this football season show just how far the teams will go to promote gambling. One of the prizes that can be won the scratch off ticket is luxury suite tickets and tickets to Redskins away games. The only way to win these tickets is to spend money gambling, something the NFL has denounced for decades.

NBA Commissioner David Stern made comments last year that suggested his league would be willing to look into the possibility of endorsing gambling on their sport. Stern did not say that time would come anytime soon, but acknowledged that gambling has become more accepted in recent years.

Sports betting has become a billion dollar industry and it is largely driven by the NFL and college football. The NFL has denied the connection between gambling and the sports popularity, but many experts draw a direct correlation between the increased gambling and the increased popularity of football in the US.

Paladino Threatens To Play Hard Ball With Turning Stone Casino

Play Now at Rushmore Casino!

Republican Carl Paladino may use the gambling industry to show that he is a no-nonsense governor. If elected, Paladino has a set agenda, and among the first things he expects to do in office is get New York a better deal with the Oneida tribe.

The tribe operates the Turning Stone Casino, and Paladino believes that not enough revenue is being generated for the state from the casino. Paladino has threatened to close access roads to the casino if the Oneida tribe does not begin negotiations on a new revenue deal.

Paladino suggests he will give the tribe two weeks to begin negotiations on the revenue sharing. If the deal is not reached, the casino could be forced into closure, which would be devastating for thousands of employees that work at the facility in Central New York. The tribe has not commented on the threat.

It is not guaranteed that Paladino will even get the chance to force the casino closure. The Republican is running against Democrat Andrew Cuomo, who also has not commented on Paladino's plan. As the election nears, New York voters now have another issue to weigh in making their decision.

Cuomo could alienate some business owners that are nearby the Oneida tribe's reservation. The business owners contend that it is impossible to compete with the tribe because they do not pay taxes. This affects gas stations, convenience stores, and other businesses that are in direct competition for business in that area of the state.

New York is one of the states in the Northeast that is making advancements in the area of casino gambling. The state recently secured a developer for a casino at Aqueduct. Voters approved the casino gaming at the racetrack nearly a decade ago, but the state had been unable to strike a deal with a developer. Finally, after many failed attempts, a deal was struck this year.

Yahoo Server Hangup Causes Online Gamblers Confusion

Online gamblers both new and seasoned were confused on Thursday afternoon when the Yahoo search engine was down for about an hour. The search engine is frequently used for players to find the top online casinos from around the world.

"For a brief period this afternoon, Yahoo.com was inaccessible to some users," wrote Yahoo Spokeswoman Kryssa Gunthrum, in response to a query from eWeek. "We have identified the issue and are working to correct it immediately. We know that this may have caused some inconvenience and we apologize to our users who might have been affected."

Google and Yahoo are the two biggest search engines in the world and they are both used extensively for finding information in a timely manner. Online gamblers looking for new casinos particularly use the search engine with confidence they will find what they need.

"When I first started playing online poker I used Google's search engine to find out all about the different online poker sites that were available to me," said Jack Benson. "Now that I know all of the sites, I don't use the tool anymore, but at the beginning it was definitely helpful."

In the US, online gambling is still a taboo subject for many lawmakers. Although the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was created in 2006, the law did nothing to criminalize online gambling for players. Furthermore, the UIGEA does not define what forms of online gambling are legal and which are not.

Online sports betting is the one form of Internet gambling that is universally accepted as illegal. Online lotteries have become an up and coming trend, and they have caused US lawmakers to look into the UIGEA and its worth. This year there has been a push to eliminate the UIGEA and set up a regulated Internet gambling system in the country, but the proposal has not yet made it to the House floor for a vote.

Stubhub Continues To Allow Gamblers To Bet On Ticket Prices

Play Now at Rushmore Casino!

Stubhub has become a popular place for fans of music and sports to go and find tickets to their favorite events. The site allows people to gamble on whether or not they can sell their tickets at prices higher than the face value of the ticket.

There are many ticket sites that have popped up across the Internet, and most are offering tickets to games and concerts at well above face value. State laws vary in regards to selling tickets above the price intended by event promoters. On the Internet, fans in most states can pay the bloated price for top seats.

Stubhub has made a business out of putting sellers together with buyers. The sellers are gambling on the idea that tickets will be hard to come by, therefore allowing the seller to jack up the prices.

The buyers are also gamblers in this game. The buyer must wait out the process sometimes until the last minute to see how far down the seller will drop the tickets in an effort to get rid of them. It is a constant gamble, and one that takes place nearly every day across the US.

Stubhub has even started showing up at the event on game day. Stubhub representatives are positioned outside the stadiums where ticket scalpers would normally be standing. In many cases, the fan cannot buy tickets directly from the Stubhub stand.

Instead, the fan must call a toll-free number, order and pay for their tickets, and then pick the tickets up at the booth outside the stadium. In some stadiums, it is illegal for people to scalp tickets to the event, while Stubhub is openly promoting the scalping process.

As sports and entertainment grow, and the need for premiere seats continues to escalate, Stubhub and other ticket sites will experience a boom in business, all the while, doing something that the everyday person may be forbidden from doing under their state laws.

Alabama Gambling Scandal Case Begins With Eleven Not-Guilty Pleas

Anyone who though the gambling issue was going away in Alabama anytime soon had better reconsider that position. On Friday, the latest chapter in the gambling saga in the state was written when eleven people pleaded not guilty to federal charges.

The eleven people, many of which are high profile lawmakers or community leaders in Alabama, were charged after a federal indictment was unsealed alleging that the accused took part in a buy and sell vote scheme to push through a gambling bill in the Senate.

The owners of two of the biggest gambling establishments in the state were arrested as part of the indictment. Milton McGregor, owner of VictoryLand, and Ronnie Gilley, developer of Country Crossings, were joined by three lobbyists, four state senators, and two others in court today.

A twelfth defendant in the case has pleaded guilty to being a part of the operation that offered a state senator $2 million for his vote on the gambling bill. The other eleven are maintaining that they did nothing illegal, something that will likely now be determined by a jury.

The gambling bill in question was originally called "corrupt" by Alabama Governor Robert Riley. The legislation would have allowed voters in Alabama the opportunity to decide whether or not to regulate electronic bingo machines in the state. The vote would have threatened Governor Riley's Task Force on Illegal Gambling.

For the final couple of years of Riley's run as governor, the gambling issue has become the most visible and controversial issue in the state. The issue has become so large, that gubernatorial candidates Ron Sparks and Robert Bentley have debated the issue heavily. Sparks is in favor of gambling and has been vocal in his approach to the issue, while Bentley has been more low key on his stance, leaving room for wavering at a later time.

University Of Kentucky Study Shows Pigeons Gamble Like Humans

Play Now at Rushmore Casino!

For years, gambling opponents have looked at the activity as a major source of social and family struggles. A new study, however, indicates that gambling may simply be something that is a natural instinct in animals.

A University of Kentucky study that was authored by Psychology Professor Thomas Zentall indicates that pigeons have the same instincts to gamble that humans possess. The results of the study were published this week in the Proceedings of the Royal Society.

Professor Zentall took pigeons and allowed them to peck at various lights with the reward being food pellets. On the left side, the pigeons would peck and receive either a red or green light. After a short waiting period, the red light would release ten food pellets. The green light would release zero pellets.

On the right side, the same study was conducted but this time the lights were blue and yellow. The two colors on the right both released three pellets for each peck. The odds on the left side were set at twenty percent. The result was that the pigeons chose to peck to the left more than the right, hoping for the big payout of ten pellets instead of taking the guaranteed three every time.

"There's a basic behavioral, biological process involved that probably affects many different species, and it doesn't require the excitement of a casino," said Zentall. "the misunderstanding of the likelihood of winning, social reinforcement or the publicity of winners. These factors may help, but that's not it. Look at the pigeons."

It is not yet known how political groups will spin the pigeon experiment to prove that gambling is good or bad for a society. What Zentall and his team may have proven, however, is that gambling is an extinct that can be found not only in humans, but in other species as well.

NFL Power Rankings: Ravens, Jets Top the list this week

In the past few years, gambling has come to the forefront of Alabama politics.Governor Robert Riley has many Alabamians irritated by his creation of the task force for illegal gambling. Are hard coated attitude to the Task Force and how it is experienced, could cost Bentley votes in the election.

Attorney General Troy King tried to get control of the Task Force, but he failed after the Supreme Court that Riley had the authority to make the power of anti-gambling. Lawmakers then pushed a Bill in the Senate that would give voters the right to choose the outcome of the gambling problem.

This Bill, however, turned into a disaster, with Governor Riley called it "tainted."Several of the lawmakers who are involved in that Bill were earlier this month, along with the owners of two well-known Alabama gaming establishments arrested. They were accused of crimes relating to buying and selling votes to pass the proposal.

The opportunities on the left side were set at 20%.The result was that the pigeons chose to pick up the left over the right, in the hope for the big payoff of ten pellets instead of the guaranteed three every time.

"There is a basic behavioral, biological process that is likely to affect many different species, and it is not necessary the thrill of a casino," said Zentall."the misunderstanding of the chance of winning, social reinforcement or the publicity of the winners. these factors can help, but that's not the. look at the pigeons."

Atlantic City Casinos gambling revenue slip again Watch

Resorts Atlantic City, the oldest casino in New Jersey, is sold and transformed with the theme of the 1920 ' 2 in mind. What the Casino and the rest of the AC casino industry needs is however a return to the 1970s and 1980s, when AC casinos ruled the gaming world.

September gaming turnover figures were released on Tuesday and it was another disappointing month for the casinos. Revenue fell 11.6% from the same period in 2009, and that's not good considering that the numbers 2009 decreased as well.

The eleven casinos in Atlantic City all saw revenue declines in september. The casinos have struggled for most of the past two years, and there is nothing to indicate that a turnaround anytime soon will come. The last revenue figures have officials of the AC casinos shaking their heads again.

Table game revenue on the New Jersey casinos decreased 15.6%. That would be a direct reflection of the table games that are now being offered in the casinos, Pennsylvania. In July, Pennsylvania casinos started offering of table games, and they've taken customers from AC casinos in the months since.

Slot revenue decreased also in double digits. the decrease of the income of 9.9% was not as bad as some previous months, but it clearly shows that competition and the economy has seriously harmed the AC gaming industry. There are some analysts who are now predicting that AC casinos will never see the sales figures which they enjoyed a time on a regular basis.

The total turnover of 296,3 million dollar kept tonnes as the second largest gaming destination in the u.s., but the warning signs all point to Pennsylvania catch up them in the future. In September 2009 was income at the casinos 335.4 million dollars.

Competition is not only submitted by Pennsylvania., New York, Maryland and Delaware also have their casino options be extended. Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire might not be far behind, with lawmakers casino proposals.

However, it is almost a certainty that anything that is fun and easy in life is almost too good to be true and is then more often than not associated as a vice. And so it is with gambling, easy bucks for a good time can tend to lead to an addiction if you're not careful. Too often we hear of many stories of many people who have taken the bait of big, easy money and their consequent downfall. Excessive, compulsive gambling is a problem because it is destructive to a person's life. It affects their school or work, their mental and emotional disposition, their physical well-being, their finances and/or interpersonal relationships. Problem gambling can encroach on anyone in spite of age, gender, race or social status. The first warning signs are: * They bet with money they cannot afford to lose * They borrow money against very dubious guarantees * The max out their credit cards despite the effects to their finances * They deny they have a gambling problem * They neglect and later detach from family, friends and work Go ahead and gamble like the pros do. The old hands in gambling do it safely, moderately and sensibly.
